Buying items at the Scout Shop (Covid-19 edition)

Notice: The Scout Shop will be closed until 26 January 2021, Tuesday.

The end of year exams are finally over and I can finally head down to the scout shop to prepare the items required for my CCA. It was a Friday afternoon, school have ended and Mum told me to get ready to head down to the scout shop. The scout shop is located in Bishan at the Singapore Scouts Association (SSA) We travelled by car to the Singapore Scouts Association(SSA) and arrived after a 30 minutes journey.

MRT : Alight at Bishan MRT station, head south of Bishan Road, Turn left to Bishan St 11, walk straight, turn right to Bishan St 12 (7min walk)

Buses : 50, 52, 53, 54, 55, 56, 57, 58, 59

When we arrived at the SSA, we entered the building by the side gate. As we walked into the building, it was very dark as the building is still undergoing renovation. To my surprise, I met my uncle at the Scout Shop.

I referred to the list of items that I have to buy. It includes uniform, scarf, socks, record book and area badge. A lady from the scout shop help us to find the items. First, I tried on the uniform and shorts. They were a loose fit. My uncle went to pick up a belt, gave it to me and asked me to try it. It fits perfectly. Secondly, the lady staff went to pick up the tommy stove, mess tin, scarf, socks, record book and woggle, while me, my uncle and my mother was browsing in the shop. My mum said the woggle looks different from the initial woggle in her school days, my uncle said this is the new edition and helps the cubs to keep the scarf together. My uncle suggested the guide book and a cap which was not on the list. I was delighted as the guide book provide me valuable information about the progress badges. These are the items we bought.

I am so happy that we finally got my scouting items, I said goodbye to my uncle as he could not come with us as he was still working. I took a photo outside the building to remind myself of my first step to being a cub scout. This is not my first time here, I have been here many times before but this is the first time I am getting items for myself to be a cub scout.

I am excited to start my Scouting Journey next year! Left handshake anyone?
