Akela Award - Outdoor Challenge - Shelter

Updated: Mar 29, 2022

Task : Make a make-shift shelter at home or school compound

During the Chinese New Year holidays, the Covid19 cases were on the rise, I had some time to practice building a shelter. I spend some time constructing it and enjoyed reading under the shelter. I even built a tent all by myself and sleep in it for one night. This is the closest to camping I can get for awhile.

In my opinion, if you have a determination to do something, you can achieve it if you persevere. We do not have to officially wait for a camping opportunity. I have build a shelter during my staycation and even at home just to have a private space for myself. A shelter outdoors keep me safe from the weather elements but a shelter at home gives me a personal space I can call my own. For example, I built a tent during my Chinese New Year staycation and spend time reading and game inside and we even had pretend play with my parents. I learn that we make good use of opportunities and not wait for opportunity to present themselves.
