Task : Cook a simple meal at home
I enjoy cooking, it feels very satisfying when people are eating the food that I prepared. This morning is day 2 of Chinese New Year, it's a public holiday and the public places are definitely crowded. I decided to make roti prata and my parent's favourite drinks for breakfast. I open the freezer and saw we have the ready made instant prata. We like our prata fluffy yet crispy at the same time. I saw that we have our favourite bottled Nasi Lemak sambal and decide to use that as the condiment.

I carefully heat up the pan, spray olive oil on the pan and placed the prata dough on the pan. I like seeing how the prata would fluff up and grow in size when its ready to be flipped. Once i see that it starts to balloon, I flip it to cook the other side. Once it starts to balloon and crisp on both side, I use a tong to scrunch the prata. I saw this technique at the prata shops and learn how to use it with a tong as its hot. The prata man at the shop normally use their hands to scrunch the prata. This would make the prata remain crispy even though it has cool down.
For drinks, my mother likes here yuan yang so I mixed the teh tarik kosong and kopi gao kosong sachets with a pack of stevia. She likes her drink like this. My father likes his coffee black so its Kopi O Kosong for him and a pack of milo for me. This was a satisfying breakfast for our family!
The other day, I also made maggie martabak at home after a failed attempt during the outdoor cooking. I finally got the technique right. It's all in the eggs. Too bad, I was too engrossed in learning and did not manage to document my cooking.

On a different occasion, I made lacy pancakes or Roti Kirai, it is very easy, the ingredients are just flour, egg, turmeric and salt. I heat up the pan and make circular patterns on the pan. Once its done, I rolled it up and my mother cooked curry chicken to accompany it. Cooking is fun and its a survival skill, don't be shy to help out our parents at home.
At the glamping experience in Sarimbun, we had outdoor cooking too, my father and I made tom yam soup it was very very satisfying after a fun day at the campsite.
