Task 1 and 2: Make a collection of over a period of 6 months of similar items and Arrange your collection neatly in an album

I have a collection of fridge magnets, rocks, NLB Book Bugs and pokemon cards. For this assignment, I would like to share about my fridge magnet collections as I miss travelling.

I try to collect magnets when I travel to different countries to remind me of my trips.

This is a snapshot of my fridge magnet collection which I have categorised based on countries. I plan to grow my collection and have been collecting these magnets since I was 4.

Under the Malaysia category, there are magnets from Kuala Lumpur, Sabah and Melaka. I chose these magnes they are the major attraction in the malaysia states. In Kuala Lumpur, there is the Petronas Twin towers. In Sabah, Mount Kinabalu which is one of the largest mountain and the Melaka Town Centre. The places on the magnets bring back beautiful memories.

Next, we have the Hong Kong category. The magnet is from Disneyland Hong Kong and we stayed at Disney hotel. It was my first trip with just my mum and we had lots of fun.

Next is the land of smiles, Thailand. We have been to Bangkok and Phuket. Bangkok is the capital of Thailand. I chose this magnet as Tuk Tuk is everywhere in Thailand. A Tuk Tuk is a kind of transportation in Thailand. A Tuk Tuk is similar to a taxi in Singapore.

Indonesia next! The magnets for Indonesia consist of Batam and Bali magnets. I had forgotten to buy a magnet when we went to Bandung. I have never been to Bali, my parents bought this before I was born. I wish I can go to Bali soon. In Batam I stayed at the Harris hotel. The view from the room was magnificent as I could see the Barelang Bridge which is the shape chosen for the Batam magnet.

Land of the rising sun, Japan is my favourite country. The magnets shown here is from the Tokyo Disney Resort and Hiroshima. The Tokyo Disney Resort consists of both Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea. I really like both parks and that's the reason I bought this magnet. The Hiroshima magnet is the last magnet I bought in Dec 2019. That was the last we could travel before Covid. In Hiroshima, I saw the Atomic Bomb Dome which was very memorable. I have also been to other cities in Japan such as, Osaka, Kyoto, Odaiba and many others but seems I had forgotten to get magnets !

Australia is a country I always visit thus the most magnets are from Australia. I have been to the Melbourne Star and the reason I bought this magnet was because its memorable for me as I am afraid of heights and it was a difficult experience for me. Next, the Surfers Paradise and Gold Coast magnets. Surfers Paradise is a paradise for surfers. Activities there include, surfing, swimming, skydiving and many more. The beach at Surfers Paradise was as white as cloth. I love the clean beach, soft warm sand and the awesome view of the beach from our apartment and that's the reason I chose this magnet. Last but not least is a magnet showing all the major cities in Australia that I had visited.

Task 3: Talk about items in your collection that you like

My favourite magnet is the Surfers Paradise magnet as the magnet is shaped as a surfboard. The surfboard design is unique and I had a very nice memory of our time at Surfers Paradise. I miss travelling and wish we can travel soon.

Task 4: Visit/Look at a collection public or personal and tell whether you like or dislike the collection and explain why

I have seen one of my pack mate's collection. He collected the Book Bug cards from the National Library Board (NLB).

Here is the picture of my pack mate's cards.

I like his card collection because in order to redeem the cards, he has to borrow books from the library. This shows that he reads a lot of books. This is why I like his collection because he got this collection thru his love of reading. I also collect these cards as reading is my favourite hobby. If you like to read, you may like to borrow books from the NLB. For 1 book you borrow you will get 1 point. To exchange for a book bug card you need 4 points. So far I have collected 25 unique cards and a few repeated cards. I love going to the library and am glad that my pack mate have the same collection as me.

This is my NLB book bug collection.
